Incursion with illustrator

Award-winning illustrator and Bundjalung woman, Charmaine Ledden-Lewis, presented to Primary and Infants classes about her craft, and also taught an intensive and fun drawing workshop with 4th Class students recently.  With a large soft toy turtle as the subject, she encouraged the children to see objects as shapes first, to get the form down on paper, then add details and shading.
Ms Ledden-Lewis lives on Dharug and Gundungurra Country in the Blue Mountains, and has illustrated many books about Country and First Nations experiences and perspectives, including Born to Run with Cathy Freeman.  John Colet School is lucky to have many copies of her books in our library.
