Northern beaches NAPLAN 2020: Where your primary school rates
Three public primary schools have made it into the northern beaches top five for best performance in NAPLAN. We have crunched the data and have listed the schools on the peninsula from 1 to 52. Find out how your school rates.

Three public schools are among the top five NAPLAN performers on the northern beaches.
Independent John Colet in Belrose topped the list and was fifth best in NSW.
Davidson’s Kambora Public School was second best performer on the peninsula, Frenchs Forest Public third and Balgowlah Heights Public fourth.
Covenant Christian School in Belrose was fifth.
Julian Wilcock, headmaster at John Colet was pleased with the results, but said he did not measure the school’s success by NAPLAN.

We trust our newsletter finds all our families well and in good spirits during these difficult times. It has been wonderful to see examples of the learning (and fun) that is going on in homes this week. The majority of our staff remain on campus to deliver the programs that have been established as well as explore ways that we can enhance the home experience further. It is a good time to remind ourselves that many of our children may not have experienced as much screen time in the past, and have had little exposure to all the internet offers. While the online world offers many resources we do have to be mindful of the safety of our students at this time. Well done for getting through Week 1 of school at home.  One of our teachers summed things up beautifully in her email message to parents today…
“Please do not worry if you are struggling to complete all the work we have set. We will meet your children where they are academically when they return to school. Try to enjoy this extra time with your family and try to practise Gratitude daily. We don’t often get a chance to spend so much quality time with the most important people in our lives…

We would like to thank the community for your ongoing support. Many of our staff are parents and caregivers themselves and your understanding of their situation is greatly appreciated.
As a School, we are monitoring the situation locally and globally, and continuing to develop proportional responses that are well planned and based on official information. The School continues to follow advice as provided by NSW Heath, the NSW Department of Education, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and the Association of Independent Schools.
Our advice remains, that if you or your child are unwell and experiencing flu-symptoms then you or your child are not to attend school and should seek medical attention as soon as possible, particularly if there is a fever, cough, sore throat or shortness of breath. As is the normal practice at school, if your child presents with flu like symptoms, including a fever, parents will be asked to

We thank all our community for the continued diligence and support that is being shown as our school responds to the worldwide Coronavirus situation. The purpose of this email is to keep you informed of the current position of John Colet School.
As a School, we are monitoring the situation locally and globally, and continuing to develop proportional responses that are well planned and based on official information. We see this as an opportunity to model the Values that our School holds. It is natural to feel a sense of unease at the current time. It is important that we respond cautiously and methodically, acting on best authoritative advice and directives from health agencies and government.
