Third class thoroughly enjoyed yesterday’s History excursion to West Head. We couldn’t have asked for better weather to spend a day outdoors enjoying the bush and learning about Aboriginal connections to Country. The children participated in a number of hands-on activities and learned many interesting facts about Aboriginal culture and traditions. The excursion also informed the work we are currently doing in English – Dreaming stories – as well as in Art. Today the children started writing a recount about their experience. The Maths focus this week was two-dimensional shapes. When discussing the features of 2D shapes, we looked at parallel and perpendicular lines and we learned how we can show that an angle is a right angle. We learned about regular and irregular polygons, and explored quadrilaterals, understanding that there is a subgroup that are called parallelograms. The children learned
